\nYew Tee Integrated Development \u2013 Singapore\u2019s second \u201cvertical kampung\u201d after Kampung Admiralty \u2013 will feature 68 Housing and Development Board (HDB) flats for seniors, reported Channel News Asia (CNA) citing HDB.
\nThe 68 two-room Flexi flats, which will be available in 36 sq m and 46 sq m layouts, will come with elderly-friendly fittings.
\nThe flats will be launched for sale in next month\u2019s Build-to-Order (BTO) sales exercise.
\nSituated beside Yew Tee Point shopping mall, the development will also feature Choa Chu Kang town\u2019s first hawker centre, a polyclinic, a community plaza, retail shops and a kidney dialysis centre.
\nIts 10-storey residential block is linked to a six-storey commercial block via low-rise open-air landscaped decks in a \u201cvalley-like set-up\u201d, said HDB.
\nCommon corridors of selected floors will extend into the landscaped gardens, connected by open staircases.
\n\u201cThe Yew Tee integrated development marks another milestone in the future of HDB living, where our future residents will be able to live well, live green, live connected, all at the same time, in one location,\u201d said HDB Chief Executive Officer Tan Meng Dui at an HDB forum as quoted by CNA.
\nHDB noted that the Yew Tee Polyclinic, located at the commercial block, will play a \u201ccrucial role in shifting healthcare beyond hospitals to the community\u201d.
\nIt will be operated by National University Polyclinics, providing services such as chronic disease management, treatment for acute conditions, women\u2019s and children\u2019s health services as well as psychological services.
\nThe dialysis centre, on the other hand, will provide subsidised haemodialysis services.
\nThe community club will also have classrooms, dance studios, multi-purpose rooms and an outdoor area.
\nHDB shared that the planning and design for the development took inspiration from Kampung Admiralty that was opened in 2018.
\nThe Yew Tee Integrated Development, for instance, will include a \u201cgenerous provision\u201d of shared community spaces as well as sustainable features which lower energy consumption, carbon footprint and thermal load.
\nIt will be designed with skyrise greenery and multiple layers of landscape decks. Numerous gardens will also be integrated into the development, including a community garden where residents can grow their own fruit trees and edible plants.
\n\u201cWhen completed, the development will have a green coverage of more than 100%, meaning that the total amount of greenery on site will cover a larger area than the site area itself,\u201d said HDB as quoted by CNA.
\n\u201cVerdant greenery will offer residents ample green views and provide visual relief from the surroundings.\u201d
\nConstruction works for Yew Tee integrated development is set to commence in the third quarter of 2022, with completion slated in the first quarter of 2027.
