\nThere are plenty of plants that will give height in a garden\u2019s first year, from climbing beans to morning gloriesMy friend Lucy\u2019s new flat is light and airy and full of lovely things beautifully placed, but once I know there\u2019s a garden, my true interests are\u00a0impossible to\u00a0hide. \u201cLook at that lovely tree,\u201d I\u00a0say, pointing out of the window and grinning a\u00a0little too eagerly.The garden is small, but so full of promise, with\u00a0many walls to cover with foliage and flowers, and two good-sized beds, one in sun, the other in shade.
