\nIntrigued for years by an extravagant house in France, a designer finally made it his ownIt all started with a dog. Several years ago, the mother of designer Pierre Gonalons decided to buy a plot of land in a village close to Meaux, about an hour\u2019s drive east of Paris. The reason? Simply to have somewhere to exercise her pet griffon, Fantin. \u201cOnce or twice each summer, I\u2019d go with her and we\u2019d have a picnic,\u201d recalls Gonalons. Each time, a house near the entrance to the village would catch his attention.
