On a yearly basis, the economy contracted 12.6%.<br \/>\nThe ministry attributed the drop in GDP to the enforcement of circuit breaker measures from 7 April to 1 June and the weak external demand amid a global downturn.<br \/>\nNoting that the advance estimates were based on April and May data, when around 75% of enterprises were unable to function properly, Irvin Seah, Senior Economist at DBS, expects the year-on-year GDP to slightly increase by \u201cat least two percentage points\u201d when the June numbers come in.<br \/>\nEconomists also believe that the economy may have bottomed out.
