\nThe 10ha park is a multi-agency collaboration involving the National Parks Board, HDB, the National Heritage Board and national water agency PUB.
\nResidents of the upcoming Bidadari estate can look forward to a rustic landscape with rolling hills, a unique rain tree \u201cisland\u201d in the middle of a lake and a boardwalk across marshland, reported The New Paper.
\nThis comes as details of Bidadari Park were revealed by the Housing and Development Board (HDB) team leading the development of the project.
\nThe 10ha park is a multi-agency collaboration involving the National Parks Board, HDB, the National Heritage Board and national water agency PUB.
\nNestled snugly among the residential blocks, the park will account for 10 percent of the estate\u2019s space.
\nTo be completed progressively by 2022, the Bidadari estate will feature 10,000 Housing Board units.
\nLeonard Cai, HDB\u2019s building and research institute deputy director (landscape design office), revealed that the HDB team worked to retain as much of the estate\u2019s natural woodland as possible.

\n\u201cWe went down to the site to map out the position of trees, (to see) where are the areas with the least amount of vegetation so that we could place new trails there, so as to cause the least disturbance to existing biodiversity.\u201d
\nNature groups were also engaged by the team in order to identify and retain \u201cbird studios\u201d frequented by birds, he added.
\nMeanwhile, park features like the lake, viewing sheds and trails have been designed around trees.
\nA rain tree on a little island will serve as Alkaff Lake\u2019s focal point, while a playground will be built around a banyan tree. Over 350 trees, including a century-old tembusu tree, were retained.
\nOverall, the park will have over 2,000 trees, including over 150 species \u2013 some of which are critically endangered \u2013 transplanted from other areas.
\nBased on the Nature Society\u2019s (Singapore) suggestion, an eco-link bridge shared by both wildlife and park users will also be built to connect Hillock Park and Bidadari Park.
\nBidadari is a quiet and comfortable area with plenty of housing developments and transport links.
