{"id":102942,"date":"2019-01-14T10:42:31","date_gmt":"2019-01-14T03:42:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.siamlandbank.com\/propertynews\/property-news\/lta-aims-for-45-minute-city-20-minute-towns-travel-by-2040\/"},"modified":"2019-01-14T11:05:15","modified_gmt":"2019-01-14T04:05:15","slug":"lta-aims-for-45-minute-city-20-minute-towns-travel-by-2040","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.siamlandbank.com\/propertynews\/property-news\/lta-aims-for-45-minute-city-20-minute-towns-travel-by-2040\/","title":{"rendered":"LTA aims for \u201845-minute city, 20-minute towns\u2019 travel by 2040"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#013;<br \/>\nThe Land Transport Master Plan 2040 aims to make commuting around Singapore more convenient.<br \/>\nThe Land Transport Master Plan 2040 targets to see people commute to work in just 45 minutes and 20 minutes to get to residential towns, revealed some of its advisory panel on Saturday (12 Jan) during a focus group discussion.<br \/>\nThe focus group discussion signalled the end of the public consultation launched by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) in August 2018 to gather feedback on the masterplan, reported Channel NewsAsia.<br \/>\nGet more details on the property market outlook for 2019 here<br \/>\nUnder the masterplan, public transport is seen as a transport mix termed Walk-Cycle-Ride and would include rail, buses, private hire cars as well as active mobility devices like e-scooters and bicycles.<br \/>\nAdvisory panel member Melvin Yong noted that the \u201c45-minute city with 20-minute towns\u201d aim would be for nine in 10 of all peak hour Walk-Cycle-Ride journeys to the city centre be made in just 45 minutes and less than 20 minutes to get to the nearest neighbourhood centre and amenities.<br \/>\nTo achieve this vision, Yong \u2013 who is also a Member of Parliament serving as the National Transport Workers\u2019 Union executive secretary \u2013 suggested for the creation of more dedicated cycling paths and bus lanes.<br \/>\nLTA could also adopt a single payment and booking platform in order to unify the various modes of transport and make them accessible to all, he said.<br \/>\nUrban planning and land use may also be revised to bring work and play closer to home, he added.<br \/>\n\u201cPersonally, I think this could be a game changer,\u201d said Yong. \u201cBecause it will make commuting more convenient.
