\nMPs hit out as Guardian and ITV News investigation shows convicted landlords exploit loopholes in lawThe government\u2019s efforts to police rogue landlords have been branded \u201cweak\u201d and \u201cpathetic\u201d after a Guardian and ITV News investigation found convicted landlords are continuing to operate by exploiting loopholes in the law that is supposed to protect the most vulnerable tenants.The comments came after the Guardian and ITV News revealed that rogue landlords are collecting rents \u2013 often funded by taxpayers via housing benefit \u2013 despite being convicted of housing offences and failing to pass the \u201cfit and proper\u201d person tests required by housing legislation in England and Wales.
